Palace for princes; & COMMENT DEBATE YOUR LETTERS TO THE NATIONAL NEWSPAPER OF WALES.

SIR - We have been interested to read the responses (Letters November 30 and December 3) to our letter "Keep an open mind on Princes' palace site" (November 28). There is, as Mr Remfrey says, unambiguous contemporary documentary evidence of an association between the place name "Garth Celyn" and the llys of the Welsh Princes. The problem, as we understand it, lies in associating this name unambiguously with the Pen y Bryn site.

Your other two correspondents, Mr John Davies and Mr Haydyn Williams, seem to have added nothing material to the debate.

It might now be wise for everyone concerned to await the report of the archaeological excavations of the Mwd site conducted in 2010-11. We understand that a short, interim report will be available soon.

Finally, we are baffled by Mr Haydyn Williams' bizarre suggestion that our appeal for everyone concerned to keep an open mind might be "preventing fair and open debate".
