Pakistan railway to run trains under public-private partnership.
ISLAMABAD, June 21, 2009 (Frontier Star) -- Pakistan railway has
decided to run non stop train Karachi express between Karachi and Lahore
Section under private partnership in order to overcome increasing
financial deficit. Application in this respect has been convened from
interested parties by 6th July, an official of Pakistan railway told
reporter The Pakistan railway would ply 16 down trains between Karachi
and Lahore and 15 up Karachi express under private partnership, official
said, adding that, the railway is not getting sufficient income at this
route. The successful party would be authorized to create more revenue
under the head onboard entertainment, catering, parcel, sale of tickets
and transportation of goods. The successful business partner would be
responsible for cleanness and looking after of coaches, official said.
