Pakistan 3-1 to end long wait for victory; CRICKET.
Byline: Steve Davies
ROPEY travellers Pakistan are 3-1 with bet365 to end their away-day blues by registering a first series win on the road in four years when they tackle Sri Lanka.
The three-Test series starts in Galle tomorrow morning before a series of one-dayers where the Lankans are more likely to flex their muscles. In the Test arena, however, the gulf between the teams doesn't look quite so big.
Pakistan haven't won a series against top-eight opponents since 2011 and were beaten 2-0 in Sri Lanka last August. But this is a home side which looks impotent without Muttiah Muralitharan and Salith Malinga and must now do without Mahela Jayawardene.
For Pakistan, Saeed Ajmal has been overlooked but they boast a batting line-up which should ensure they are never skittled by Rangana Herath and co.
Sri Lanka are dominant in Galle where they've lost only five of 24 Tests, but a stormy forecast and modest bowling attacks suggest that 4-6 for the draw in the series opener is hard to dispute.
Pakistan are 9-2 to draw first blood with Sri Lanka 3-1.
