Pak-US business recognized among fastest growing US companies.

WASHINGTON -- Cybertex Institute of Technology, a Texas -based computer enterprise owned and run by Pakistani-American businessman Iqbal Sheikh, has been recognized among the top 5000 fastest growing private companies in the United States.

The prestigious Inc. magazine in its 2012 list of best performing American companies has placed Cybertex at the 3498th position.

"To be honored this year is a particularly notable achievement. To rank among the 2012 Inc. 5000 your company had to thrive through three of the toughest years, this economy has seen in living memory. Your success

in such times is eloquent testimony to your team's creativity, resilience and tenacity," Editor of the magazine noted. A delighted Sheikh said his company has been focused on providing the best services with a team of tech-savvy experts. This recognition is indeed inspiring for us to grow further and with greater commitment in the years ahead, he said.

The inclusion in the Inc. list of best companies is the latest in a series of honours and recognitions, Sheikh has earned for his entrepreneurial spirit since his arrival in the United States about ten years ago.

A few years ago, Sheikh was also instrumental in establishing Charlie Wilson Chair in Pakistan Studies, the 1st privately funded Chair in Pakistan Studies at the University of Texas at Austin.

Besides, Sheikh is also on the advisory council of Texans for Stem Cell Research, Austin, Texas and a leader of the chamber of commerce.

His latest business venture, Young and Fabulous, an upscale fashion center, is also emerging as a success in the highly competitive world of American fashion industry.

Nazir Khan appointed as Honorary Investment Counselor (HIC) in China

ISLAMABAD: Saleem H Mandviwalla, Minister of State/Chairman Board of Investment has appointed Akhtar Nazir Khan as Honorary Investment Counsellor (HIC) in China to complement the investment and trade promotion efforts for Pakistan.

On the appointment of Akhtar Nazir Khan, MOS/ Chairman Board of Investment said that the appointed HIC will be responsible to cover the areas for cooperation to enhance trade and investment relations with China, says a statement issued by BOI here today.

According to the statement, the BOI appoints HICs to perform activities like image building of Pakistan in the country of his accreditation (both through contact and personal practice), building effective relationship with the Pakistan (business) community residing in his country of residence, working as active liaison between BOI & foreign investors in getting their queries / concerns answered with efficiently & speed, assisting prospective investors in arranging their visit to Pakistan & having fruitful meeting in the country during the visit(s).

The other activities for HIC included helping in the dissemination of investment information & business opportunities in Pakistan, guiding / assisting BOI in organizing needed Investment Conference (s) in their assigned territories, organizing periodic investment delegations to Pakistan and prior reporting on the credentials/ seriousness of the investors and identifying trustworthy investors and luring them over to Pakistan and accompanying investor's delegation to Pakistan if the size / importance of the incoming delegation(s) so warrant.

The Board of Investment is the primary agency mandated to promote and facilitate foreign investment.

The BOI, therefore, seeks the help and assistance of prominent businesspersons overseas, who are being appointed as Honorary Investment Counsellor (HIC), in this effort.
