Paedophile lured boy, 5, into toilets.
A PAEDOPHILE targeted a fiveyear-old boy at a pub family fun day before smirking at his victim's family in court.
Dominic Onions, 50, lurked outside the men's toilets looking for a young child to target, Durham Crown Court heard.
The young boy's father discovered his own son was being abused by a stranger who went to the toilets and heard feet shuffling in the cubicle, prosecutor Shaun Dodd said.
He assumed it was a dad helping a son go to the toilet, until he noticed his little boy's odd socks under the cubicle door and realised to his horror it was his son in the cubicle with Onions.
When the pub CCTV was reviewed, it showed Onions lurking around the toilet and beckoning different children towards him before he launched his sickening assault on the youngster.
One young boy almost fell for his ruse, before changing his mind and running away from the toilet door.
Onions, of Marigold Crescent, Bournmoor, near Chester-le-Street, has a catalogue of previous convictions for sex offences against children dating back to the 1980s. He will be sentenced later.
