Paedo beaten at Garda station; GANG ATTACK PAEDO WARD.
Byline: BRYNMOR PATTISON
A VIGILANTE group tracked down child rapist Danny Ward to their local Garda station before he was confronted and attacked in a shocking video.
The three-minute clip, posted on social media yesterday under the title of "Operation Pedo Hunters", shows what happened TURN TO PAGE 4 FROM PAGE ONE as locals heard the location of the pervert and raced to meet him.
Finding and identifying the beast, they confront him inside the station before a man appears to launch an assault on Ward, leaving him with a bruise on his right eye.
The group are then shown outside the station talking to gardai before the cameraman declares the operation a success.
The man begins by saying: "I got confirmation Danny Ward, paedophile, is at the Garda station in Dun Laoghaire."
He adds that he is "waiting for troops" before catching a glimpse of the pervert inside the station.
Rounding up several friends, the gang make their way into the station before Ward's face is featured through glass for the first time.
The cameraman says he is about to interview the rapist, before he asks: "So Danny, why did you do what you [did] mate? Explain to me please, for my viewers. Do you regret what you done? Yeah? I'd say you do."
The man goes on to sing the chorus of Cher's hit If I Could Turn Back Time as a nervous Ward looks on.
The video then takes a more sinister turn as a Snapchat image with the caption "Knock knock Danny you pedo" is shown and a man confronts the rapist.
The attacker growls at a cowering Ward: "That's the way the f*****g child was you f*****g scumbag... you f*****g animal," before punching him in the face. The attacker follows up with another punch as Ward cries out and then slips as he attempts to kick him once more.
Segments of the video were posted on the 98FM's Dublin Talks.
The uploader said: "We did what any other community would do, stop a pedophile and possible reoffender.
"Not only did we help the children, we helped many parents who feared letting their children out.
"We are safe for now. This is only the beginning of us!" A Garda spokesman said they were aware of the incident.
He added: "There have been no arrests made but investigations are continuing."
