Padre Dam Muni Water District wins awards. (News Update).

Padre Dam Municipal Water District, which provides water, wastewater, recycled water and recreation services to 127,000 residents in east San Diego County, received four of the seven major annual awards presented by the California Water Environment Association (CWEA) for outstanding wastewater management in 2002.

CWEA presented Padre Dam with its Wastewater Collection System of the Year in the small system category for completing 2002 with no sewage spills and for excellent preventative maintenance, capital replacement, safety and regulatory compliance programs. Padre Dam's Wastewater Collection Supervisor Marty Holmes was honored as CWEA Supervisor of the Year.

CWEA's Engineering Achievement Award recognized Padre Dam's sewer force main project, which utilized sliplining technology to replace approximately three miles of sewer pipeline running the length of Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve without digging a trench and disturbing the park's landscape and wildlife. CWEA's Plant Safety Award was presented to Padre Dam's Water Recycling Facility for exceptional training and safety programs.
