Paddock Orchestra to perform Spring concert; Classical music.

TEENAGE musician Will Robertson will be the featured soloist at a Paddock Orchestra concert tomorrow.

The Orchestra will play a spring concert at Armitage Bridge church at 7.30pm, featuring music by Schubert, Mozart, Bruch and Vaughan Williams.

Will, 14, is a gifted cellist and part of a talented musical family from New Mill.

He is a regular performer and prizewinner at music festivals.

He has been playing piano since he was five and the cello since he was seven.

He has been a member of the National Children's Orchestra for the last four years and plays principal cello with the Kirklees Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Last autumn, Will understudied the Elgar Cello Concerto with Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra for the internationally renowned cellist Alexander Baillie.

He was then invited to Suffolk by Alexander to attend a cello masterclass.

At tomorrow's concert, Will play Max Bruch's Kol Nidrei, which was inspired by the traditional Jewish melody, Song of Atonement, sung at Yom Kippur.

The orchestra, conducted by Barbara Bancroft, will also play Overture to Rosamunde (Schubert), Mozart's last symphony, his Symphony No 4 (Jupiter) and Vaughan William's English Folk Song Suite.

For more details, see the orchestra's website wwww.paddockorchestra.org.uk Tickets for tomorrow's concert are pounds 6 for adults and pounds 3 for children, with refreshments. They can be bought on the door.
