PacificHealth Laboratories, Inc. Announces Second Quarter 2001 Revenues Exceeded 2000 Fiscal Year Revenues.

Business Editors

PacificHealth Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ: PHLI) announced that revenues for the second quarter 2001 were $3,861,613, which slightly exceeded revenues for their entire fiscal year 2000.

Revenues during the second quarter 2001 included $1 million of initial licensing fees from GlaxoSmithKline. PHLI recently signed a worldwide Licensing Agreement with GlaxoSmithKline for Satietrol, PHLI's new appetite control agent that works by stimulating the body's natural satiety peptide. Not including the licensing fees, product sales revenues for the quarter were $2,861,613, an increase of more than 93% over sales for the second quarter 2000.

Dr. Robert Portman, President and CEO of PacificHealth Laboratories, Inc. said, "Our sales increase came from both our sports nutrition and weight loss product lines. Compared to the same period as last year, sales for Endurox R4 were up over 63% and sales for Satietrol were up 111%. This quarter also reflected initial sales for ACCELERADE, our newest sports drink."

"We are encouraged by the performance of ACCELERADE to date. Although only available in limited distribution, unit sales per store of ACCELERADE have been very good. By the end of July, we anticipate having ACCELERADE in almost 4,000 retail outlets.

Our year-to-date revenues for 2001 are up 144% over the comparable period in 2000. Based upon these numbers, we anticipate that we will show a profit for the second quarter as well as the first six months of the year."
