PaRRSA reconstructs 12 BHUs in Malakand Division.

PESHAWAR -- The Provincial Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Settlement Authority (PaRRSA) had undertaken activities on a large scale to reconstruct insurgency damaged Basic Health Units (BHUs) in various parts of the Malakand Division.

The reconstruction of these BHUs is carried out on modern architectural designs to with stand earth quakes. These BHUs will provide basic health facilities to people of Malakand Division within region.

PaRRSA in collaboration with USAID (KPRP) has reconstructed 12 Basic Health Units including 5 fully, 7 partially damaged BHUs in far-flung areas of Malakand Division.

An official of PaRRSA told that these BHUs are fully operational for the patients. In Distract Swat 10 BHUs are reconstructed including BHU Bandai, BHU Shamozai, CD Parai Swat, CD Telegram, BHU Shalphin, etc and one each in Distract Buner and Lower Dir.

People, especially the ones living in remote areas, are the most benefitting as basic health facilities are now available (free of cost) in their respective communities. The people used to travel to

the far away main towns/cities for getting treatment of minor health issues thus resulting in saving of time and financial resources especially during emergencies.

Children are also getting relief from these BHUs as Malakand Division has comparatively a cold climate and seasonal viruses/infections are common among children. People now have more confidence in the health facilities and an increase in OPD.

He said PaRRSA focused on the reconstruction of these BHUs to provide health facilities to people of this region. BHUs also have residential quarters for the staff.
