PZC approves Rs.1453.218 mln for deserving.

LAHORE -- Provincial Zakat Council (PZC) has approved a grant of Rs. 1453.218 million under the heads of educational institutions, seminaries, subsistence allowance, healthcare, marriage grant, educational scholarships (Technical) and hospitals of provincial level as second six monthly instalment.

The approval was given in the 160th meeting of the council presided by Chairman Provincial Zakat Council Justice (retd) Akhtar Hassan.

As first six monthly instalment for the year 2015-16, the council approved Rs 19,582 million for District Zakat Committees of ten district for onward transmission to 3831 deserving students of 126 educational institutions whereas the council approved Rs 25.444 million for seminaries of 11 districts where 7194 deserving students are studying.

The meeting, as second six monthly instalment for 2015-16 which will be released from January 2016, approved Rs. 580.80 million under the head of subsistence allowance and about 97 thousand needy people will benefit whereas Rs. 40.604 million for students of colleges and universities, Rs. 40.604 million for deserving students studying in seminaries which are affiliated with Provincial Zakat Administration, Rs. 36.912 million for tehsil and district headquarter hospitals for free treatment of deserving patients, Rs. 44.295 million as marriage grant for deserving girls, Rs. 510 million for deserving students of vocational training institutes, Rs. 45 million for blind deserving persons, Rs. 0.6 million for deserving patients of leprosy of Rawalpindi as monthly subsistence allowance, Rs. 30 million for distribution of funds under self-employment scheme and Rs. 124.40 million for provincial level hospitals for free treatment of poor and needy patients.

A sum of Rs. 20 million has also been approved under the head of social rehabilitation scheme for supply of embroidery machines and auto rickshaws etc. so that deserving persons could earn their livelihood honourably.

Chairman Provincial Zakat Council Justice A(r) Akhtar Hassan stressed upon the department to make foolproof arrangements for in time distribution of approved amount to the deserving persons.
