SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Pyramid Technology (NASDAQ: PYRD) today reported revenues of $55,103,000, and net income of $468,000, or 4 cents per share, for its first quarter of fiscal year 1993, ended Jan. 1, 1993. In the first quarter of fiscal 1992, Pyramid recorded revenues of $49,423,000, and a net loss of $18,508,000, or $1.56 per share.
Revenues increased 11 percent over the comparable quarter of fiscal 1992. Furthermore, revenues in the first quarter of fiscal 1993 increased eight percent from the fiscal 1992 fourth quarter revenues of $51,058,000, and represents Pyramid's third consecutive quarter of sequential revenue growth.
The company's balance sheet remained strong during the first quarter of fiscal year 1993, with available cash increasing to $26,900,000. Productivity was also up, with revenue-per-employee rising to a record $217,000 on an annualized basis.
"We are pleased that our efforts to return the company to profitability have been successful. These profitable results are attributable to the enthusiastic acceptance of our new products and the hard work and determination of our employees to design and manufacture world class products and reduce our overall cost structure," said Richard H. Lussier, Pyramid chairman, president and chief executive officer.
In October 1992, Pyramid announced its new Open Data Center strategy to deliver technology, partnerships and services to the open systems data center market. In support of this direction, the company introduced its new MIServer ES products, which have been benchmarked as the fastest transaction servers in the industry by the Transaction Processing Council and are considered leaders in price/performance. "We are very pleased at the levels of consumer acceptance reflected by the bookings and shipments of our ES Series," said Lussier.
In October 1992, the company also announced its partnerships with Comdisco, Integris and Electronic Data Systems (EDS). Recently, the company reinforced its partnership strategy when it announced new technology and marketing agreements with European computer giant ICL, Bull HN Information Systems and Fujitsu Australia -- agreements which significantly broaden the company's spectrum of partnerships in keeping with Pyramid's focused data center strategy.
