PYRAMID TECHNOLOGY ANNOUNCES NEW TECHNOLOGY AND STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS ORGANIZATION

SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Pyramid Technology Corp. (NASDAQ: PYRD) today announced the appointment of key Pyramid executives Edward W. Scott Jr. and Robert Buhl to lead a new effort which will develop and manage Pyramid's technology and strategic partnerships, key elements of the company's Open Data Center strategy which was initiated in October 1992.
Scott, executive vice president, and Buhl, former vice president of U.S. sales, will form a team to target, develop and manage long-term relationships with key vendors and systems integrators worldwide. This strategic initiative creates an internal organization dedicated to managing and improving the effectiveness of Pyramid's inter-corporate relationships and to developing new strategic partners.
By creating the partnerships organization, Pyramid reaches its newest milestone in executing its Open Data Center strategy. The strategy, launched in October 1992, signaled Pyramid's intent to deliver technology, partnerships and services to the open data center. Recently, the company reinforced its partnership strategy when it announced new technology and distribution agreements with European computer giant ICL, Bull HN Information Systems and Fujitsu/ICL Australia.
"Ed Scott was selected to lead this effort because of his demonstrated ability to develop our partner relationships and deliver definitive revenue results through these partner channels," said Richard H. Lussier, Pyramid's chairman, president and chief executive officer. "Bob Buhl, who will join Ed as vice president, strategic partners, has similarly demonstrated great skill working with our partners and in making them successful, the most notable of which was our relationship with AT&T.
"Many companies talk about partnershipew program is so fundamental to Pyramid's future success," added Lussier.
In implementing the new partenership organization, Pyramid has realigned management responsibilities among its executive team. Lussier will assume management of the direct sales organization. Management of the marketing organization will be assumed by John Chen, Pyramid's chief operating officer. Mitch Mandich, newly recruited from Tandem Computers Inc., was recently announced to have responsibility for direct sales in the Americas, reporting to Lussier.
