PYRAMID TECHNOLOGY AND FUJITSU/ICL AUSTRALIA ANNOUNCE JOINT MARKETING AGREEMENT

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Pyramid Technology (NASDAQ: PYRD) and Fujitsu/ICL Australia today announced a joint marketing agreement in which Fujitsu/ICL Australia will act as a systems integrator and sales partner for Pyramid's MIServer line of high-availability servers. The addition of Pyramid servers will complement Fujitsu/ICL Australia's existing mainframe product lines, offering a mid-to-high end UNIX solution.
"The partnership is aimed primarily at open data center environments, underpinning Pyramid's Open Data Center strategy of leveraging and developing strategic value-added distribution channels, rather than selling direct. In this endeavor, we could not have found a more qualified partner to join with us in maintaining our leading sales position," said David Hall, general manager of Pyramid Technology Corporation Pty. Ltd. According to International Data Corporation (IDC) in 1992, Pyramid holds almost 25 percent of the mid-range UNIX market in Australia, the leading market share position.
In support of the agreement, Fujitsu/ICL Australia has dedicated a network of 30 staff members to serve joint Pyramid-Fujitsu/ICL Australia accounts. "Fujitsu/ICL Australia has an abundance of skills and a wealth of knowledge in corporate data center environments. With the addition of Pyramid's high-end UNIX processing platforms and a comprehensive range of software and integration services, we make an unbeatable combination," said Neville Roach, managing director of Fujitsu/ICL Australia.
The Pyramid-Fujitsu/ICL Australia agreement is the second of two joint marketing announcements made by Pyramid today. The company also announced the formalization of a joint marketing agreement that teams Pyramid and International Computers Ltd. (ICL), the European leader in systems integration and services. The ICL agreement is targeted at joint sales of Pyramid's MIServer systems to high-end departmental and enterprise level opportunities in the United Kingdom and worldwide.
The two agreements support Pyramid's strategic focus to deliver technology, partnerships and services to the open data center, announced in October 1992. "With our Fujitsu/ICL Australia and our ICL relationship in the U.K., we're reinforcing our commitment to partner with organizations which provide data center users the highest-quality technology and services," said Hall.
