 PYRAMID INTRODUCES EXTENSIVE NEW SUPPORT PROGRAMS FOR DATA CENTER
 CUSTOMERS; ADVANCED DATA CENTER SUPPORT MEETS UNIQUE SERVICE NEEDS
 SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of today's "opening the Data Center"(TM) announcement, covering technology, partners and service for the data center, Pyramid Technology Corp. (NASDAQ: PYRD) today unveiled its new data center service strategy. Advanced Data Center Support(TM), Pyramid's packaged support solution, provides integrated services specifically designed for Pyramid's MIServer ES product line in a data center environment. Pyramid also expanded its Professional Services offerings to provide the expertise necessary to support the diverse needs of large-scale, corporate computing, and enhanced its traditional service offerings to provide greater manageability and flexibility for data center customers.
 "Many of our data center customers are looking for a support solution that provides mainframe-class services to maximize system availability and expertise while introducing open system technologies to their proprietary environment. Our new support programs meet these requirements with a wide range of services -- from planning a migration strategy to start-up services and ongoing support of the evolving data center," said Thomas C. Meyer, vice president and general manager of Pyramid's Customer Services Division. "We have developed highly responsive support services to meet the challenges that data center managers face. We directly address these issues with our mainframe-class support offerings."
 Pyramid's Advanced Data Center Support offering is a comprehensive one-year package that includes consulting, customer training and 24 x 7 service. Highlights include:
 -- 24 x 7 hardware and software support;
 -- 25 days of consulting services;
 -- 6 customer training classes;
 -- Affiliate Support Program(TM) which provides coordinated, integrated problem-solving with Pyramid's partners;
 -- ServiceExpert(TM) which provides system audit for improved availability and reliability; plus
 -- Wide-ranging supplemental services including Executive Service(TM), technical account management and remote diagnostic capabilities.
 Consulting and integration services are delivered by Pyramid experts and are tailored to the specific needs of individual customers. Customer education is available either at Pyramid's training facilities or on-site and focuses on building the skills of system administrators, support personnel and programmers.
 Pyramid's Affiliate Support program, unique within the industry, galvanizes Pyramid's ability to provide mainframe-class services by coordinating problem resolution with leading RDBMS vendors and partners in solving hardware and software technical issues. Pyramid provides formalized joint planning, action, and review of the problem resolution process, thereby eliminating the obstacles commonly found in multi-vendor situations. This offering is a key differentiator in the service area today.
 ServiceExpert provides automatic and continuous monitoring of Pyramid systems that results in proactive and scheduled maintenance. ServiceExpert alerts technical account management team to potential issues allowing for a proactive resolution process interfacing with an expert at Pyramid's corporate customer support center.
 Pyramid's Advanced Data Center Support packages range from $60,000 to $120,000 depending on the system configuration.
 Expanded Professional Services Programs
 To assist customers in their move to the open data center, Pyramid has expanded its Professional Services offerings. Available separately, these services include:
 ProStart(TM) is a combination of "start up" consulting services and educational programs designed to make MIServer ES environments productive - right from the start. The consulting services assure that new system administrators have immediate access to Pyramid expertise while customer education classes complement these consulting services by providing formalized training.
 Instant Recovery(TM) is a disaster recovery service designed to improve the availability of mission critical data center applications. Through Instant Recovery, Pyramid will build and maintain a continuously available disaster recovery system tailored to the requirements of subscribing customers.
 In addition, Network Services, which provide network planning, design, integration and support for customers who include their MIServer systems in Local and Wide Area Networks, are now available.
 New Maintenance Contract Offering
 For those customers that may not need the extensive Advanced Data Center Support package, Pyramid provides the flexibility to choose from three new offerings. These new maintenance contract options include: "ExtendCare(TM)" which extends the hardware and software support coverage period to either 16 or 24 hour blocks, and PromptCare(TM), which provides on-site hardware service response within four hours. Customers with less critical environments may opt for SureCare(TM), which provides same-day response with a more cost-effective price structure.
 Regardless of the maintenance offering that is chosen, all customers receive a variety of supplemental services including Executive Service which gives customers direct access to Pyramid's senior management team.
