PUSH AMERICA CYCLISTS TO VISIT THE REHABILITATION INSTITUTE
On Monday, Aug. 10, 25 cyclists from the Pi Kappa Phi national fraternity will visit patients at The Rehabilitation Institute in the Squirrel Hill section of Pittsburgh, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The cyclists have been riding across the country to raise money and awareness for people with disabilities through a service project called PUSH America.
The men will spend the day observing and participating in therapy sessions for children with spina bifida and Prader Willi syndrome, a rare eating disorder which causes massive obesity. A special bike ride is planned for the patients and cyclists.
PUSH America members have been the visiting patients annually during their journeys.
PUSH is a non-profit organization which has 140 collegiate chapters nationwide.
The Rehabilitation Institute is a private, nonprofit hospital that serves people with head injury, stroke, amputation, arthritis, orthopedic problems, chronic pain, burns, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, learning disabilities, behavioral disorders and other serious impairments. It is also an approved private school for children with special needs ages 2 to 21.
