PUBLIC INVITED TO COMPETE IN LARGEST KARAOKE CONTEST EVER HELD IN WASHINGTON AREA; AT LEAST 600 PEOPLE ARE EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE

MCLEAN, Va., Aug. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Officials of Tysons Corner Center today invited adults, teen-agers and children in the Washington area to sing in the mall's karaoke contest at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14.
At least 600 people are expected to participate in the event, including 100 who will sing and 500 who will help judge the entries. The competition, which will be held at the Fashion Court on the lower level of the mall, is believed to be the largest public karaoke contest ever held in the Washington area.
Contestants will attempt to sing the first verse from "We've Got 'Em All," Tysons Corner Center's award-winning radio jingle. The jingle is based on the 1970's pop song "Life is a Rock (and the Radio Rolled Me)" by Reunion.
The complete lyrics of the 2-minute commercial lists stores in the shopping center. Winners, who will be determined by audience applause, will receive certificates for $1,000, $500 and $250 shopping sprees at Tysons Corner Center.
Copies of the jingle's lyrics are available at the Concierge Center, located on the lower level at Hecht's Court. Contestants must register between 1-2 p.m. on the day of the event at the Lower Level Fashion Court.
 For additional information, call 703-893-9400.
The karaoke contest is one of a series of back-to-school events that will be sponsored by the mall Aug. 13-15. Tysons Corner Center is the largest shopping mall on the East Coast and features five department stores and 230 specialty shops and restaurants.
