PUBLIC FORUM TO EXAMINE JOBS, DEVELOPMENT
 IN DOWNTOWN'S EASTSIDE INDUSTRIES
Is international trade a major player in downtown's industrial arena? Is the blue-collar job market shrinking or exploding? Where are all those flowers going? A study under way by the Cordoba Corp. for the Downtown Strategic Plan sets the stage for a bottom-line analysis of the major role the burgeoning eastside industries play in the region's economy. The study is the subject of a public forum sponsored by the Downtown Strategic Plan Advisory Committee and the Community Redevelopment Agency set for Thursday, April 9, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Los Angeles Theatre Center. Also available at the forum are copies of the "Downtown Factbook," a comprehensive compendium compiled in 1991 of facts and figures on employment, development and environment in the downtown core. (The volume's $22 price tag covers the cost of publication.)
The public forum is the first in a series of public workshops and meetings set to review development of the Downtown Strategic Plan, a community-based planning effort of the Downtown Strategic Plan Advisory Committee and the Community Redevelopment Agency proposed to chart the future development of downtown Los Angeles through the next 20 years. The forum will be held Thursday, April 9, from noon to 2 p.m. in Theater 3 of the Los Angeles Theatre Center, 514 S. Spring St. Free to the public. Information: Community Redevelopment Agency, 213-977-1724.
CONTACT: Marc Littman or Gayle Anderson of the Community Development Agency, 213-977-1951.
