ATMOSPHERE: The Station House is cosy and snug, mainly created by the wonderful log fire, which gives it a homely feel. For those interested in sport there is a huge screen on which to watch the rugby, racing or whatever takes your fancy. There is also a selection of free newspapers. The lounge is pleasant and airy and also has plenty of space for dining in comfort. 15/20 DRINKS: There is a very good selection of beers, wines and spirits including many cask ales as and when available. There is also a good value mug of nice coffee for just pounds 1. 17/20 CLIENTELE: This is a pub to visit if you want to feel part of something. The locals are very friendly and it is a bit of a community hub. Many of the local characters meet to relax and chew the fat. You don't get left out either, and might even be offered some fresh home-grown veg being swapped within. 19 /20 DECOR: Pleasant and welcoming with rustic stone walls and box sash windows. Simple and very comfortable. 15/20 TOTAL 81/100 THE STATION HOUSE John Street, Whitland SA34 0AP 01994 240556 18/20 PUB SPY STAFF: The landlord and his wife are on first name terms with many of the regulars which adds to the warmth of hospitality. The other staff are friendly, accommodating and very vigilant as empties don't go unnoticed as they appear on the bar.

17/20 FOOD: Excellent pub menu with lots of choice, and very generous portions. The baked potato with prawns is a tasty and healthy lunch and definitely leaves no room for pud.
