PSU jump starts Center of Excellence.

Pittsburg State University (PSU), Pittsburg, Kan., kicked off its Center of Excellence in Metal Casting (CEMC) with a 25-ton wax injector. MPI Inc., Poughkeepsie, N.Y., donated the machine, installed in the metalcasting lab at the Kansas Technology Center.

The goal of the CEMC is to develop a state-of-the-art laboratory that will produce top graduates in the metalcasting industry. It also will become a permanent education and training resource for industry professionals to learn best practices, share knowledge and disseminate leading-edge solutions in the metalcasting process.

This new equipment brings real-world application to the classroom from tooling design and wax injection to final wax assembly.

Pittsburg State University is a Foundry Educational Foundation Certified school and home to the only Investment Casting Institute Certification program in the world.
