PSN CONTRACTS WITH GE AMERICOM FOR OCCASIONAL VIDEO SERVICE
PRINCETON, N.J., April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- On Jan. 31, Private Satellite Network, Inc. (PSN), extended its use of GE's Satcom K-1 and K-2 to provide customers with leading-edge video communications systems and services.
PSN is a leading provider of comprehensive business television services for both permanent business television (BTV) networks and special event broadcasts. PSN provides design, installation, management and maintenance for leading corporations, such as Merrill Lynch, Ford, First Boston, General Electric, IBM and Texaco.
PSN-supported networks transmit more than 350 hours a month of original BTV programming to locations throughout the United States and Canada. In 1991, PSN piloted television to the desktop PC. Through this system, customers can watch training and company broadcasts, as well as news programming, right at their desks.
PSN joins NBC, PrimeStar, CycleSat and Microspace -- along with Single Channel Per Carrier services for radio, data distribution and occasional video -- on Satcom K-1 and K-2.
GE Americom, located in Princeton, uses the Satcom fleet -- five C-band and two Ku-band satellites -- to service cable television, broadcast radio and television as well as business information and government markets. GE Americom is a subsidiary of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE).
