PSINet To Purchase Metamor Worldwide.

PSINet, Inc., of Herndon, VA, has announced that it will purchase Metamor Worldwide, Inc., for $1.9 billion in stock. The mammoth Internet service provider would assimilate Metamor's 70 offices and nearly 5,000 employees, which would then enable it to provide a wide range of Web design and technological applications. Industry analysts have indicated that the acquisition will allow PSI to round out its service platform and become a total service provider with a Web site, e-commerce and value-added applications.
