PS2million diabetes centre appeal; In Brief.

AN appeal has been launched to help raise PS2million to build a Diabetes Education and Research Centre at Nuneaton's George Eliot Hospital.

The hospital's diabetes team will be selling raffle tickets at Nuneaton Market today as well as promoting healthy living and offering free blood sugar tests. Raffle prizes include a week's stay at a villa in Spain and a Ferrari track experience. Consultant Dr Vinod Patel said: "Diabetes affects more than 10,000 people in North Warwickshire and this new facility will allow us to carry out research that will ensure these people receive cutting edge care and treatment.

"It will also give us a dedicated facility to educate patients and their families on the best ways to manage their condition and live a healthy life." Contact the Diabetes Team on 024 7686 5212.
