PS22K FOR 'EXPLODING' BELLY.

Byline: ANDREW GREGORY

A GRAN has won a PS22,500 payout after her belly button exploded on a plane due to a botched tummy tuck.

Patricia Jackson, 68, was returning from a holiday in Portugal when her stomach contents "erupted" from her abdomen.

She was in tears as fellow passengers complained about the smell and she had to keep re-dressing the wound.

She later discovered her old belly button had been left inside her when she had the surgery six years earlier in 2005. Patricia, of Bridlington, East Yorks, got her payout from Dr Edgardo Schiavone, Jeanette Aspinall, head of medical negligence at Fletchers Solicitors, said: "It highlights how easy it is for an everyday cosmetic surgery to go wrong." Dr Schiavone declined to comment.
