PS147k thief mum jailed.

Byline: John Kelly

A MUM who stole PS147,251 from her employer to pay for her footie-mad son to travel Europe watching Everton has been jailed.

Irene Taylor, 64, handed cash to Andrew, 34, who stayed in five-star hotels and also had skiing trips.

He wore Hugo Boss designer clothes while visiting Spain, Switzerland, Austria and Holland.

Irene, of West Derby, Liverpool, told the city's crown court she stole from ERC Accountants between July 2011 and October 2013 to cover debts. She admitted theft and Andrew admitted money laundering. Sentencing her to 20 months and her son to 10, Judge Andrew Hatton said: "It is difficult to imagine how... you could build up debts that would amount to PS150,000 in 27 months.

"There must have been perhaps not high living but excessive living."
