 TO HEAD INVESTMENT BANKING ACTIVITIES FOR UTILITIES
 NEW YORK, May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Prudential Securities Incorporated announced today that Carl H. Seligson has joined the firm as a managing director in charge of investment banking activities for utilities throughout the United States.
 Seligson, who joined the firm from DeLoitte & Touche, where he was a senior executive consultant for regulated industries, will be responsible for heading the Prudential Securities unit that provides public utilities nationally with a wide range of corporate finance and securities-related services. Prudential Securities is one of the largest brokerage firms in the county.
 "Carl's appointment, which was made after close consultation among the firm's retail, capital markets, research, and investment banking areas, underscores our commitment to provide quality investment banking services and products to our clients," said Howard A. (Woody) Knight, president of the Investment Bank. "Carl's expertise, experience, and relationships will enable us to serve our retail and institutional investors while satisfying the capital raising needs of utility issuers throughout the U.S."
 Before joining DeLoitte & Touche in 1990, Seligson was a managing director for utilities investment banking at Kidder Peabody for three years. He served as a managing director at Merrill Lynch from 1971 to 1987. Previously, he was involved in utilities research at Kuhn, Loeb & Co. and at Burnham & Co.
 A graduate of Brown University, Seligson has testified before federal and state legislative and regulatory bodies on a variety of utilities-related topics, and has appeared as an expert witness on behalf of numerous utility companies.
