PRUDENTIAL SECURITIES (JAPAN) ELECTED TO TOKYO STOCK EXCHANGE BOARD
NEW YORK, July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Prudential Securities said today that its Prudential Securities (Japan) Limited unit has been elected to the board of governors of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the first non- Japanese firm elected to the board. Yesterday, the exchange announced that it was expanding its board of governors -- which includes 13 governors of member firms, and six non-member governors -- to include a non-Japanese member firm.
Yukio Aoyama, general manager of the Tokyo branch of Prudential Securities (Japan), will serve as governor. Aoyama, who joined Prudential Securities in 1990, has had significant experience in the Japanese securities markets with another large American firm.
"The exchange's selection of Prudential Securities to nominate the first non-Japanese firm governor is both a privilege and an honor, and reflects the exchange's understanding of the importance of foreign securities firms in the Japanese market," said James M. Walsh, Asia Pacific regional director of Prudential Securities. "With his experience and reputation, Mr. Aoyama should prove to be a valuable member of the board, as a representative of Prudential Securities, in particular, and foreign member firms, in general."
A member of the Tokyo Stock Exchange since 1988, Prudential Securities (Japan) is a full service securities firm serving clients in Japan through offices in Tokyo and Osaka. It is a subsidiary of Prudential Securities Incorporated, a fully diversified, global securities firm based in New York. The third largest brokerage in the United States, Prudential Securities is itself a subsidiary of the Prudential Insurance Company of America.
