TODAY in the 21st century Syngenta is the flag-bearer for Huddersfield's internationally renowned chemicals industry.
Over the course of the last 100 years, thousands upon thousands of local people have worked at Syngenta's Leeds Road site.
The skills and talents of these people have contributed for many years to world agriculture, playing an important role in bringing plant potential to life.
ICI became Syngenta in 2000 and then focused on five key crop protection brands.
These were Reglone, Gramoxone, Karate, Force and Fusilade.
The site has six National Chemical Industries Awards for its manufacturing excellence, engineering excellence, responsible care, process safety and reputation.
Syngenta in Huddersfield has one of the most technologically-advanced production facilities in the UK, focused primarily on the manufacture of many leading crop protection brands.
Syngenta employees at Huddersfield continue to be part of a long and illustrious story, sharing a common legacy of professional manufacturing - all on the Dalton site where it began so long ago with the aptly named colour patent 'Spirit Blue.'.
The spirit of today's employees and the blue and green of the Syngenta motif are a daily reminder of the past, and a promise to help growers around the world meet the challenge of the future - to grow more from less.
With a global marketing reach, Syngenta has become a major player in crop protection and continues to invest more than PS1bn annually in the research and development of new products, playing a key role in feeding and protecting the world.
