 PROTEON RELEASES REPORT ON ADAPTIVE SRT FOR STANDARDS-BASED
 INTERNETWORKING OF TOKEN RING, ETHERNET AND FDDI
 WASHINGTON, May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Proteon, Inc. (NASDAQ: PTON) today published design details on its Adaptive SRT, its value-added implementation of the IEEE 802.1d Source Routing Transparent Bridging (SRT) standard that enables the industry's first dynamic and automatic bridging between Ethernet, token ring and FDDI.
 The report details how Adaptive SRT overcomes inherent barriers to routing two of the most common types of network traffic -- IBM's NetBIOS and DEC's LAT -- in mixed token ring/Ethernet environments (which currently includes approximately 70 percent of major U.S. corporations). Adaptive SRT provides the router with intelligence to automatically "adapt" itself to the network without user intervention, rather than requiring the network to be adapted to the router, so that:
 -- existing installed base of bridges stay intact;
 -- no changes are required to the existing network, including
 end nodes; and
 -- SRT and translation bridging are automatically integrated into a
 seamless solution.
