WESTBOROUGH, Mass., March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Proteon, Inc. (NASDAQ: PTON), a leading supplier of networking and internetworking solutions, today announced an OEM agreement with PC COM, Inc., an international manufacturer of PC networking products.
Headquartered in Elmsford, N.Y., PC COM supplies products across North America and has international accounts in Europe, South America, Israel, Mexico and Africa. Under terms of the agreement, PC COM will private label Proteon's full line of Network Interface Cards (NICs), wiring centers and intelligent hubs, and a remote router product.
PC COM will provide customers with Proteon equipment under its "Link-in" brand product line. The firm's target customer base includes regional and area distributors, national and local resellers, systems integrators and mass merchants.
"Our relationship with Proteon is already paying dividends," said Steven J. We see a great deal of market growth potential for NICs, hubs and routers. This alliance gives PC COM's customers and prospects an opportunity to acquire leading edge products at the industry's best prices."
PC COM will be remarketing Proteon's ProNET-4/16 family of adapter cards, including the p1892 for the IBM PS/2 Micro Channel, p1391 and p1392 for IBM PCs and compatibles, and the p1990 for EISA-bus based personal computers. The OEM agreement also includes Proteon's award-winning DNX 300 Bridging Router, named a "Hot Product" of the year by Data Communications. Rounding out the list is Proteon's Series 90 Intelligent Hub, a 10-slot hub/router with Token Ring and Ethernet LAN/WAN connectivity, and the Series 70 Intelligent Hub, a modular IBM-compatible multi-station access unit (MAU) that accommodates a variety of media.
"This is a strategic partnership for Proteon," said Patrick Courtin, president and chief executive officer. "PC COM has clearly demonstrated its ability to build a strong market presence in North America and in some very specialized international markets. We're delighted they selected our products and we see future benefits for both parties."
