 PROTEON AND NETLINK ENTER INTO STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP
 WESTBOROUGH, Mass., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Proteon, Inc.


(NASDAQ: PTON), a leader in internetworking and Netlink, Inc., (Raleigh, N.C.), a recognized leader in the field of SNA connectivity solutions, announced today that they have entered into a strategic partnership focusing on sharing technology.
 Proteon and Netlink recently signed a joint development agreement. This agreement will provide Proteon with Netlink technology for integration into Proteon products. The first product resulting from this relationship is Proteon's GNX 400 Gateway (see related release). Based on the agreement, the two companies plan a broader exchange of technologies to further advance their activities in the IBM connectivity arena.
 "Proteon's relationship with Netlink is of great importance to its overall SNA strategy to address the connectivity and network management needs of the large IBM installed base," said Paul Toldalagi, Proteon vice president of business development. "Netlink's SNA expertise will enable Proteon to provide our customers with leading-edge SNA infrastructure solutions," Toldalagi added.

 The agreement also provides a framework which will allow the two companies to work together to bring additional products to market. Proteon's GNX 400 Gateway is the first of several planned products which will allow the efficient consolidation of traditional SNA traffic onto internetwork backbones. Netlink and SNA
 Founded in 1984, Netlink, Inc., is a supplier of SNA connectivity solutions for multiprotocol internetworks. These products utilize the company's extensive technology expertise in SNA to integrate traditional SNA equipment with LAN/WAN internetworking environments, and to provide interoperability between IBM and DEC networks.
