PROMUS FILES FOR A SECOND RIVERBOAT GAMING LICENSE IN LOUISIANA - PLANS TO DEVELOP AND OPERATE HARRAH'S CASINO ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX IN KENNER, LA. -

MEMPHIS, Tenn., March 11, /PRNewswire/ -- Harrah's, the gaming subsidiary of The Promus Companies Incorporated (NYSE: PRI), announced today that it has filed an application for a certificate of preliminary approval with the Louisiana Riverboat Gaming Commission for its proposed development of a casino entertainment complex in Kenner, Louisiana.
Harrah's previously submitted a proposal in response to a request made by the City of Kenner to develop a casino entertainment complex. After completing the City's request for proposal, Harrah's was found suitable by the City of Kenner to apply for a Louisiana Gaming license. After receipt of a gaming license, Harrah's will begin negotiations with the City for development rights for the City's waterfront.
The project is subject to various conditions and approvals, including obtaining a gaming license and other regulatory and governmental approvals.
The site which will serve the local New Orleans area market as well as tourists arriving by automobile and airplane is located in the Rivertown area of Kenner on the Mississippi River approximately 15 miles west of downtown New Orleans and approximately 2 miles from the New Orleans airport.
The national casino company is currently developing casino entertainment facilities in Joliet, IL; Vicksburg, MS; North Kansas City, MO; and Shreveport, Louisiana.
Harrah's is the only casino company operating in all five major casino gaming markets: Atlantic City, NJ, and in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, Laughlin and Reno, NV. Harrah's parent company, The Promus Companies Incorporated, also owns and operates three leading hotel brands: Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites hotels.
