PROMUS ANNOUNCES NEW HOTEL ORGANIZATION

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The Promus Companies Incorporated (NYSE: PRI), a Memphis-based hospitality company, announced the formation of a new hotel organization that will oversee the management of the company's three hotel brands.
Ray Schultz, president and chief executive officer of Promus Hotels, will lead the new organization and have direct responsibility for day-to-day operations of Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, and Homewood Suites. David Sullivan will serve as executive vice president and chief operating officer of the new division. Schultz had previously overseen operations of the Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites brands; Sullivan served as senior vice president for development and operations for Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites. Clyde Culp recently resigned as president and chief executive officer of Embassy Suites.
"Ray's leadership abilities and his expertise in building management teams and his extensive experience in creating hotel brands that achieve market premiums in occupancy, rate and REVPAR make him an ideal choice to oversee all three of our hotel brands," said Philip G. Satre, president and chief operating officer of The Promus Companies. "We are confident that under Ray's leadership our hotel brands will continue to set the pace for their competitive segments."
By reorganizing its hotel brands under one management team, Promus will take advantage of important synergies between the businesses, including reservations, marketing, human resources, finance and accounting, and development. "The creation of a single management team for all three of our hotel brands allows us to capitalize on the unique strengths of each and transfer those competitive advantages across all three," said Satre. "It also serves our objective of managing our assets in a more efficient and cost-effective way."
Promus is the parent company of four leading brand names in the casino and hotel industries: Harrah's, the premier name in casino entertainment, and Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites.
