PROMOTIONS ANNOUNCED AT ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING TIMES MANHASSET, N.Y., March 13 /PRNewswire/ -- CMP Publications Inc.
today announced a series of staff changes at Electronic Engineering Times, its weekly publication for engineers and technical managers in the electronics industry. Girish Mhatre, formerly publisher, is now publishing director of both EE Times and its sister publication, Electronic World News, which circulates in Europe and Asia.
At the same time, Steve Weitzner, formerly editor-in-chief of EE Times, has been promoted to associate publisher/editorial. Executive Editor Richard K. Wallace has been promoted to editor and is responsible for managing all day-to-day editorial operations at the publication. Tim Moran, formerly managing editor, has moved into the newspaper's executive editor slot. Nicolas Mokhoff is executive editor of special reports and supplements. Mhatre, who joined EE Times as semiconductor reporter in 1978, worked his way up to the publishing director slot by serving as chief editor, editorial director, associate publisher and, most recently, publisher. Weitzner joined the publication in 1985 as executive editor. He had been editor-in-chief since 1986, when Mhatre gave up that post to become publisher. Previously, Weitzner was editor of Electronic Products Magazine. He joined CMP in 1984 as associate publisher of Electronic Engineering Manager, which was later merged into EE Times. Weitzner's been involved in electronics industry publishing since 1977. Richard K. Wallace, executive editor since August 1990, joined the publication in 1987 as managing editor for design automation. As managing editor and then executive editor of news, Wallace helped expand and refine the paper's week-to-week industry-wide and worldwide news- gathering operations. A 16-year veteran of the electronics industry press, Wallace was previously a managing editor at Electronic News when it was published by Capital Cities/ABC Fairchild Publications. Tim Moran, managing editor since he joined EE Times in 1988, was instrumental in creating a single editorial production group to handle all EE Times and Electronic World News pages. The 15-year veteran previously worked at Electronic Engineering Manager and InformationWeek (both CMP Publications). EE Times is celebrating its 20th year of publishing. The publication circulates to over 127,000 technical professionals in the U.S. electronics industry and has consistently scored highest in independent readership studies among its class.
