PROGRESS SOFTWARE AND UNISYS STRENGTHEN RELATIONSHIP WITH CTOS MARKETING AGREEMENT; PROGRESS VERSION 7 SCHEDULED FOR CTOS

 WASHINGTON, D.C., July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Progress Software Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: PRGS) and Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced they have entered into a marketing agreement in which Progress Software has been named a Strategic Independent Software Vendor (ISV) in the Unisys CTOS Developer Relations Program. PROGRESS is the first Application Development Environment (ADE) to be jointly marketed under the Developer Relations Program. Under the terms of the agreement, Version 6 of the PROGESS ADE will be recommended by Unisys worldwide direct sales force to CTOS users and prospects on a non-exclusive basis.
 The two companies also announced that PROGRESS Version 7, Progress Software's latest version of its client/server ADE, will be available for the CTOS environment. Version 7 will bring to CTOS a development environment for building and deploying mission-critical applications in client/server, host-based and mixed environments. Users desiring GUI- based applications on CTOS clients will be able to run Microsoft- Windows-based PROGRESS applications through Unisys CTOS/Vpc.

 PROGRESS Version 7 will be available for the CTOS operating system by the end of calendar year 1994. Pricing will be announced prior to the first commercial shipment of the product.
