PROGRESS SOFTWARE AND SCO ENTER INTO WORLDWIDE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP AND COOPERATIVE SUPPORT AGREEMENTS

 BEDFORD, Mass., July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Progress Software Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: PRGS) and the Santa Cruz Operation (SCO) today announced they have entered into Strategic Partnership and Cooperative Support Agreements. These agreements combine to provide Progress Software and SCO customers worldwide with optimized performance between the two leading-edge technologies and enhanced user support.
 With the Strategic Partnership Agreement, the two companies will undertake joint engineering to optimize software performance between the PROGRESS Application Development Environment (ADE) and the SCO operating system products. Progress Software and SCO will also establish programs to support one another through trade shows, publicity, and other marketing activities. The agreement also specifies that Progress Software and SCO application providers be educated on the strengths of the combined offering to create additional joint business opportunities through the reseller channel.
 Under the Cooperative Support Agreement, Progress Software and SCO staff will be trained to support both products. This shared knowledge will enable Progress Software and SCO to more quickly identify and solve user problems.
