PROGRESS REPORT ON MINE RESCUE EFFORTS AT THE MACASSA MINE

KIRKLAND LAKE, Ontario, and TORONTO, Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Rescue efforts are continuing from the west end of the 6600 level to locate two trapped miners at the Macassa Mine in Kirkland Lake.
An additional 175 tons of material since the last progress report yesterday has been taken out through the 6723 ore pass raise and trammed out in four ton tram cars on the 6750 level. During the morning the ore pass raise became blocked and attempts are being made to unblock it. In an attempt to clear the blockage a two inch diameter hole is currently being drilled towards the top of the ore pass raise to dislodge material.
