PROCTER & GAMBLE WILL PRODUCE UP TO 15 MILLION GALLONS
 OF BIODIESEL FOR INTERCHEM
LEAWOOD, Kan., Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Interchem (N.A.) Industries Inc. (OTC) (Vancouver: IID.V) has announced it has received a commitment from Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG) to produce up to 15 million gallons of Biodiesel fuel per year for Interchem at a fixed cost plus feedstock price.
The Biodiesel fuel will be made from soybean oil and animal fats. The chemical and physical properties of the fuel are similar to diesel fuel so it can be used in unmodified diesel engines or blended with conventional diesel fuel. The major advantage of Biodiesel is that engines that run on this fuel reduce emissions considerably over regular diesel fuel. Smoke is reduced up to 86 percent, particulate and carbon monoxide emissions more than 50 percent and sulfur emissions are almost zero.
Currently more than 100 diesel maintenance vehicles at Lambert Airfield in St. Louis are run on Biodiesel as are 60 city buses in St. Louis and additional buses in Sioux Falls, S.D., and Kansas City, Mo. The Sunrider Expedition, a 24-foot Zodiac boat circling the world to raise global environmental awareness, is being powered by Interchem's Biodiesel fuel.
Interchem anticipates that Biodiesel will play an important role in the $23 billion renewable fuel industry. The initial markets for the Biodiesel include areas where diesel engines are operated indoors, marine uses to protect lakes, streams and harbors and in the cities to comply with clean-air regulations. The additional production by Procter & Gamble will allow Interchem to expand its markets considerably in the next year.
Interchem (N.A.) Industries Inc. is a publicly traded emerging growth company specializing in the environmentally safe production of commodity chemicals and energy from renewable sources.
