 PROCTER & GAMBLE NAMES NEW OFFICERS
 CINCINNATI, Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The Procter & Gamble Company


(NYSE: PG) announced today that it is naming a number of new line and staff officers. There are no changes in reporting relationships or responsibilities.
 Commenting on the appointments, P&G chairman and chief executive Edwin L. Artzt said, "The appointments recognize the substantial contributions of these key managers, including a number of people in important staff as well as line positions. This is part of changes initiated last July to provide increased recognition to additional company executives all over the world."
 Last July, the company announced that it had created six new management operating units, and it gave most of the company's officers new or additional titles which reflected their roles in these units. Staff and line officers associated with individual business sectors are aligned with one of the four geographic operating units -- Procter & Gamble USA, Procter & Gamble Europe, Procter & Gamble Far East and Procter & Gamble Canada and Latin America. Staff officers with broad responsibilities are part of Procter & Gamble Worldwide or Procter & Gamble International, reflecting the nature of their roles.
 The company is now naming the following new officers:
 -- Deborah D. Anderson, 46, manager, Environmental Quality Coordination, was named vice president-Environmental Quality, Procter & Gamble Worldwide.
 -- Rainer Bastian, 48, general manager-Turkey, was named vice president and general manager-Turkey, Procter & Gamble Europe.
 -- Denis F. Beausejour, 34, general manager-Australia/New Zealand, was named vice president and general manager-Australia/New Zealand, Procter & Gamble Far East.
 -- John H. Bess, 40, general manager, Dishwashing Products, was named vice president and general manager, Dishwashing Products, Procter & Gamble USA.
 -- Charles J. Bolek, 55, manager, Market Research Department, was named vice president-Market Research, Procter & Gamble Worldwide.
 -- Rene M. Brams, 63, general personnel manager-Europe, was named vice president-personnel, Procter & Gamble Europe.
 -- Gary M. Breissinger, 45, manager-U.S. sales, was named vice president-sales, Procter & Gamble USA.
 -- A. Clarke Church, 64, general sales manager-Western Hemisphere, was named vice president-sales, Procter & Gamble Canada and Latin America.
 -- Michael Clasper, 38, general manager, Procter & Gamble Limited, was named vice president and general manager, Laundry, Cleaning and Paper Products-U.K., Procter and Gamble Europe.
 -- Ricardo D. Cruz, 57, general manager-Development Markets and general counsel-Middle East, Africa and General Export, was named vice president and general manager-Development Markets and general counsel-Middle East, Africa and General Export, Procter & Gamble Europe.
 -- Ralph W. Drayer, 47, general product supply manager-Customer Services, was named vice president-Product Supply, Customer Services, Procter & Gamble Worldwide.
 -- Walter Farnsteiner, 56, president-Betrix, Beautycos and Eurocos Cosmetics was named vice president and general manager, Betrix, Beautycos, Eurocos Cosmetics and Fragrances, Procter & Gamble Europe.
 -- Daniel Fleury, 47, general manager, Laundry, Cleaning and Paper Products-Belgium, was named vice president and general manager, Laundry, Cleaning and Paper Products-Belgium, Procter & Gamble Europe.
 -- Malcolm J. Gowin, 54, manager, Personnel Administration, was named vice president-Personnel Administration, Procter & Gamble USA.
 -- R. Keith Harrison, Jr., 44, manager, Product Supply-Europe, was named vice president-Product Supply, Procter & Gamble Europe.
 -- Ronald S. Harryman, 53, product supply manager, Asia/Pacific-Japan was named vice president-product supply, Procter & Gamble Far East.
 -- J. Paul Jones, 49, manager, Research and Development, was named vice president-Research and Development, OTC Health Care Products, Procter & Gamble Worldwide.
 -- Cecilia M. Kuzma, 42, manager, Research and Development, was named vice president-Research and Development, Cosmetics and Fragrances, Procter & Gamble Worldwide.
 -- Helmut Meixner, 44, general manager, Laundry and Cleaning Products-Canada, was named vice president and general manager, Laundry and Cleaning Products-Canada, Procter & Gamble Canada and Latin America.
 -- Kenneth D. Morton, 46, manager, Research and Development, was named vice president-Research and Development, Procter & Gamble Far East.
 -- Charlotte R. Otto, 38, director, public relations, was named vice president-public relations, Procter & Gamble USA.
 -- Manuel A. Pacis, 47, associate comptroller, was named vice president-comptroller, Internal Controls, Procter & Gamble Worldwide.
 -- Robert A. Robertson, 53, manager, International Personnel, was named vice president-Personnel, Procter & Gamble International.
 -- Oscar A. Ubilluz, 38, general manager-Brazil, was named vice president and general manager-Brazil, Procter & Gamble Canada and Latin America.
 -- James W. Van Cleave, 55, division manager and director of media and programming, General Marketing Services, was named vice president-media and programming, Procter & Gamble Worldwide.
 -- David E. Veitch, 54, public affairs and business development manager-Europe, was named vice president-public affairs, Procter & Gamble Europe.
 -- Luis F. Velez, 42, general manager, Health and Beauty Care/Nutritional Products-Mexico, was named vice president and general manager, Health and Beauty Care/Nutritional Products-Mexico, Procter & Gamble Canada and Latin America.
 -- Alfred K. White, Jr., 62, general counsel-international, was named vice president-general counsel, Procter & Gamble International.
 -- Richard C. Witte, 62, chief patent counsel, was named vice president-chief patent counsel, Procter & Gamble Worldwide.
 -- Charles L. Wosaba, 51, manager-packaging, was named vice president-packaging, Procter & Gamble Worldwide.
