PROCTER & GAMBLE INTRODUCES DRIEST DIAPERS EVER

PROCTER & GAMBLE INTRODUCES DRIEST DIAPERS EVER
CINCINNATI, June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The Procter & Gamble Company

(NYSE: PG) today announced it will introduce a revolutionary new Ultra Dry diaper this fall that provides a breakthrough in dryness for babies. The new Ultra Dry Pampers Phases and Ultra Dry Luvs Phases diapers are the driest diapers ever and will replace the current products worldwide.
"We expect Ultra Dry Pampers and Luvs to change the diaper category, much like P&G's introduction of thin diapers in the mid- 80s," said Edwin L. Artzt, chairman of the board and chief executive, Procter & Gamble. "Our new Ultra Dry diapers provide a true breakthrough in leakage protection and dryness -- even when a baby wets more than once. Yet they're thinner and fit better than the Pampers and Luvs we're selling today."
The new diapers use a unique curly cellulose fiber to absorb fluid virtually on contact to practically stop leaks -- all in a significantly thinner, better-fitting diaper. This proprietary new fiber quickly pulls fluid into the diaper and then springs back, ready to absorb even more. This ability to absorb more than once is especially important at night, when multiple wettings are common.
The special fiber used in Ultra Dry Pampers and Luvs is a result of years of extensive fiber research and development at P&G, and is covered by pending P&G patent applications worldwide.
Ultra Dry Pampers and Luvs will be introduced this fall in the northwestern United States. The diapers will be available in the rest of the country as soon as production lines can be converted; expansion into international markets will follow. Consistent with P&G's long- standing commitment to help retailers lower their costs, the better- performing, thinner new diapers feature smaller packages that require less shelf space.
Procter & Gamble makes and markets a wide range of products for both consumer and institutional use worldwide. P&G does business in more than 140 countries.
