PRIZM TECHNOLOGY DEBUTS WIRELESS TOP-UP TERMINAL.

Prizm Technology, Inc. has debuted its TOP-UP terminal that utilizes advanced cellular GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) technology requiring no wireline tether. The company will pilot its new wireless TOP-UP terminal as part of the market pilot of its TOP-UP services.

General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is a new non-voice wireless service that allows information to be sent and received across a mobile telephone network. GPRS facilitates instant connections so information can be sent or received immediately. No dial-up modem connection is necessary. With maximum speeds of up to 171.2 kilobits per second, GPRS is about three times as fast as the data transmission speeds possible over today's dial-up fixed telecommunications networks. GPRS' always on availability is a very important feature for time critical applications such as prepaid and remote credit card authorization where it would be unacceptable to keep the customer waiting for even thirty extra seconds.

Prizm's TOP-UP terminal is designed to accept cash, credit, debit and smart cards as methods of payment. Housed in an industrial strength case with touch screen functionality, the TOP-UP terminal whisks users through simple actions to conduct prepaid wireless and Internet purchases that require no counter assisted point-of-sale activation. TOP-UP enabled terminals are the first fully automated transaction terminals in the market today.

According to Mike Boyle, president and CEO of Prizm Technology, Inc., "The GPRS TOP-UP terminal provides retailers greater flexibility for positioning prepaid services anywhere in their store without today's restriction of wire line phone connection availability." Boyle also said, "This added flexibility provides the consumer with better service as well. The GPRS TOP-UP terminal transfers data up to 3 times faster than a traditional dial-up terminal. All TOP-UP services transactions are designed to take about a minute to complete. With GPRS there's time to spare."

Prizm Technology, Inc., based in Sarasota, Florida, provides public access to automated transactions, leveraging widely accessible web-enabled technologies to increase availability of these services to consumers in a self-service environment.
