WHAT: Media briefing to launch I.M.P.A.C.T (Innovative Measures to Protect Against Car Theft), a first-time joint effort between AllState Insurance Co. and the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office aimed at reducing car theft in the New York area. I.M.P.A.C.T. is a pioneer program designed by E.A.C., a not-for-profit agency specializing in non- traditional anti-crime alternatives. The program is directed at first- time auto theft offenders and will begin on Saturday, June 13.
The announcement of the I.M.P.A.C.T. program represents not only a unique public-private sector alliance but a novel tactic against auto theft, a crime which now accounts for the disappearance of one car every 3 1/2 minutes in New York City.
