PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY WRAPS ON MGM'S 'BLOWN AWAY'

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Nov. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Principal photography wraps today on MGM's action-thriller "Blown Away."
Planned for release on the Fourth of July weekend, 1994, "Blown Away" combines some of the industry's most highly regarded talents on both sides of the camera. Heading the cast are Jeff Bridges ("Fearless"), Tommy Lee Jones ("The Fugitive"), Lloyd Bridges ("Hot Shots, Part Deux"), Forest Whitaker ("The Crying Game") and Suzy Amis ("The Ballad of Little Jo"). Hot young director Stephen Hopkins ("The Judgement Night") helms the film from a screenplay by Joe Batteer and John Rice. "Blown Away" is the latest project from the successful Trilogy Entertainment team of producers John Watson, Pen Densham and Richard Lewis ("Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves," "Backdraft"). Lloyd Segan serves as executive producer.
In his first action-adventure role, three-time Oscar nominee Jeff Bridges stars as the head of the elite Boston Bomb Squad who races against time in a match of wits and skill with an ingenious bomber played by Emmy winner and Oscar nominee Tommy Lee Jones.
"Blown Away" began filming in Boston on Aug. 23, becoming the largest production ever to be mounted in that city. Filming took place at such recognizable landmarks as Copley Square, the campus of M.I.T., the famous Hatch Shell on the Charles River, Craigie Bridge and the suburb of Charlestown.
Under the watchful eyes of the real Boston Bomb Squad, the company accomplished several spectacular explosions on location, beginning with a dramatic bomb blast in the heart of Copley Square, one of the city's busiest sections. Even more challenging was the explosion of a ship in an old wharf in East Boston, where spectators were not allowed within half-a-mile of the stupendous detonation. A school yard in Charlestown was the site of the final blast filmed in Beantown.
The production company returned to Los Angeles at the beginning of October for the final stages of principal photography.
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer presents "Blown Away," starring Jeff Bridges, Tommy Lee Jones, Lloyd Bridges, Forest Whitaker and Suzy Amis. Stephen Hopkins directs from a screenplay by Joe Batteer and John Rice. John Watston, Richard Lewis and Pen Densham are producing under their Trilogy Entertainment banner, with Lloyd Segan executive producing.
Behind the scenes, the distinguished production team includes cinematographer Peter Levy ("Judgement Night," "Richochet", two-time Academy Award-nominated production designer John Graysmark ("Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves," "Gorillas in the Mist"), Oscar-nominated costume designer Joe Tompkins ("The Doctor," "Harlem Nights," editor Tim Wellburn ("Judgement Night," "The Black Robe") and special effects coordinator Clay Pinney ("Backdraft").
