 SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Princeton


Diagnostic Laboratories of America, Inc. ("PDLA") (AMEX: PDA) reported an after-tax loss of $172,000 for the first quarter of 1992. Revenues were $1,493,000 for the three months ended March 31, 1992 compared to $2,085,000 for the same period in 1991. Quarterly sales volume has stabilized despite the lackluster growth of the national economy and a continued decrease in patient admissions with hospital clients.
 Net loss per share for the first quarter of 1992 was $.06 compared with a net income per share of $.02 for the same three month period in 1991.
 Revenues generated by the National Consortium for a Drug-Free Workplace ("NCDFW"), PDLA's wholly owned subsidiary, increased 23.9 percent for the first quarter of 1992 compared to the first quarter of 1991 and was profitable,
 Revenues generated by Precision Drug-testing Laboratories of America, Inc. ("Precision"), PDLA's wholly owned subsidiary, were $11,000 for the first quarter of 1992 compared to no revenues in the first quarter of 1991. This is mainly the result of the National Institute of Drug Abuse ("NIDA") certification achieved by the Mississippi laboratory in February of this year.
 PDLA processes toxicology samples under federal guidelines (NIDA), for pre-employment and random sampling of drug-free workplace programs, In addition, PDLA provides specialized clinical testing relating to the detection and monitoring of the treatment of psychiatric disorders, drug abuse, and other illnesses for private psychiatric hospitals, psychiatrists, other clinical laboratories, associations, and operating companies. These tests are used by major corporations, including 12 percent of the top 50 industrial companies of the Fortune 500, for diagnostic pre-employment screening.
