PRIDE PETROLEUM SERVICES HOSTS RUSSIAN ENERGY TRADE MISSION

PRIDE PETROLEUM SERVICES HOSTS RUSSIAN ENERGY TRADE MISSION
HOUSTON, Texas, Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Pride International, a subsidiary of Pride Petroleum Services, Inc. (NASDAQ: PRDE), is hosting a contingent of 27 Russian energy agency executives in Houston today. The group is on a trade mission to the United States to gather information on the latest oil and gas production technology and to meet contractors who can provide needed equipment and services in Russia.
Pride is one of the largest well servicing contractors in the United States and initiated international operations in April 1991 with a project in the burning oilfields of Kuwait. Pride personnel are showing the Russian visitors one of an initial three well servicing rigs and support equipment that are ready for shipment to Russia. These rigs have been prepared for operating in the harsh Arctic weather of the Siberian oilfields. All equipment requires custom winterization to properly function in the sub-zero temperatures.
The visiting Russian delegation is led by Vikenty A. Kuzneteov and Vasily N. Musionko, both of whom are deputy general directors of Amalgamation Komineft, the state run energy cooperative in Siberia. The group includes representatives and decision makers from Russia's primary energy producing states. The representatives' areas of responsibility include a wide range of planning, engineering, project management, operational and economic development functions.
Ray H. Tolson, president and chief executive officer of Pride Petroleum Services, said, "We are pleased to host this important trade mission from Russia. It has given us the unique opportunity to demonstrate in person and on site, the quality of our equipment and personnel and to also show our readiness to deal with the challenging operating conditions we will face in Siberia. We believe that the opportunities for Pride in Russia are substantial."
