 EVENT: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S.
 EPA) will announce a new partnership with computer
 manufacturers to introduce energy-efficient personal
 computers that will help reduce air pollution caused by
 power generation.
 These new personal computers are expected to save enough electricity to power Vermont and New Hampshire, saving ratepayers up to $1 billion in annual energy costs. By the year 2000, an expanded computer energy- efficiency program is projected to reduce annual emissions of carbon dioxide by 20 million metric tons -- the amount emitted by 5 million automobiles.
