PRESIDENT TO WED MIAMI WOMAN.

A former Miami teacher will marry the President of Nicaragua in August, reports UPI (June 25, 1999). Maria Fernanda Flores Lanzas and President Arnold Aleman announced their plans at a cocktail party at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables. The couple met in Managua last year while Flores, who was born in Nicaragua, was visiting the Nicaraguan capital with her father. The Flores family fled the Central American country in 1979 during the Sandinista's takeover. Flores, 30, taught at Miami Jackson High School until December 1998 and has been a consultant with the Nicaraguan Ministry of Education, a project funded by the World Bank since January 1988. Aleman, 53, was widowed 10 years ago and has two grown daughters.
