PRESIDENT BAKING SELLS BUCKEYE BISCUIT COMPANY

ATLANTA, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- President Baking Company, Inc. today announced the sale of its Cleveland-based Buckeye Biscuit Company to a partnership of two of Ohio's premiere distribution companies, Edgar Miller Company and Shur-good Biscuit Company.
As part of the sale, President has entered into a six-year sales agreement to provide Murray-brand cookie products within Ohio to the new owners.
"This sale establishes an alliance of three firms which together can achieve better profits, growth and customer service than any one of them can alone," said George K. Liu, chief executive officer and vice chairman of Atlanta-based President Baking Company, a manufacturer and distributor of cookie and snack products.
"Regional wholesale operations are a unique and very specialized business. For example, Buckeye represents approximately 5 percent of President Baking's annual revenue," said Liu. "That's why this sale makes good sense for our company, as well as for the two acquiring companies. All three of these companies are premiere distributors in the Ohio area."
President Baking manufactures and distributes brands that include Famous Amos, Murray, Jack's, Marietta, Jackson's, Bishop, Plantation, Little Brownie Bakers, Olde New England, Barbara Dee and Becky Kay's. The Little Brownie Bakers brand is the largest supplier for the annual Girl Scout cookie sale.
President Baking Company has annual sales of over $385 million and employs about 3,000 people, of which about 600 are located in Georgia.
