PRESIDENT AND CEO OF THE ANDREW JERGENS COMPANY RESIGNS
 WILMINGTON, Del., May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Kenneth E. Wattman,

president of Kao Corporation of America (KCOA) has announced that Rodger V. Reed has resigned as president and chief executive officer of The Andrew Jergens Company of Cincinnati, effective May 31, 1992.
The company will continue to operate under the leadership of its executive committee. The executive committee has evolved from the concept of team management which has been in place at Jergens for several years.
Effective June 1, Toshio Hoshino will assume the position of president and chief executive officer of The Andrew Jergens Company and chairman of the executive committee. Existing Jergens managers serving on the executive committee are: D.T. Zimmerman, senior vice president, marketing; John A. Courter, vice president, sales; Larry Blodgett, vice president, operations; J. Joseph Bonner, vice president, human resources; and Atsuo Ishida, executive vice president, research and development. This committee, under the guidance of Hoshino, is responsible for the day-to-day operations and future planning for the company.
Reed has been with Jergens for more than 11 years, and has served as its president for approximately four years. He will join Cintas, a uniform rental company as vice president. Reed is leaving to pursue an opportunity which he said he feels is more in line with his personal goals.
Hoshino has expressed appreciation for Reed's contributions to The Andrew Jergens Company, and is grateful for his assistance and support in the implementation of the team management concept. "Our mid-term plan for sales, operations and marketing was completed in April and is currently in place. We have created a hybrid management culture from which has emerged the best of both our worlds, and we will continue to address and fulfill the needs of consumers by supplying unique personal care products that enrich the quality of their everyday lives. In this type of hybrid culture, the most current information is readily available, and decisions can be made more quickly. This effort will produce a 'new' Jergens' vision and enable the company to become the most innovative and efficient manufacturer of high-quality personal care products offering the consumers discernible benefits through proprietary technology."
Wattman stated: "The changes are minimal. There will be little, if any impact on the overall operations of Jergens. Under the already existing team management, Jergens has continued to grow and new products have been introduced. Sales, through April of 1992, are 15 percent over last year's, primarily due to significant increases in domestic Jergens Advanced Therapy Lotion and Jergens Mild Soap sales. With the executive committee in place, we expect this momentum to continue."
