? PREMIERSHIP footy stars aren't used to being Snubbed - but the Blues' Leighton Baines doesn't mind one bit.

The defender was recently named as Everton in the Community's Ambassador for Giving and he's kicking off the role by supporting the Snub Fest music event, which aims to raise the profile of unsigned bands in Liverpool - as well as money for two charities.

Staged at The Masque in Liverpool on Sunday, it will feature a host of musicians all performing to raise much needed funds for CALM, a men's mental health charity and the Forum Housing Association, which supports homeless young people in Merseyside.

Leighton has recently started his own very successful music blog on, and event organisers were keen for him to lend a hand and recommend some of his favourite local bands.

He tells Insider: "Music is my biggest passion outside football. I listen to lots of different things from The Beatles through to the present day. The more recent stuff I listen to tends to be in the style of Alex Turner, the Arctic Monkeys and Beady Eye.

"I was really honoured to be asked to recommend some bands and help promote this event. Two up and coming bands from the area I've been keeping an eye on are Dirty Waters, who have not been signed yet, and Dustland, who are generating a lot of talk around the city right now." ?
